According to the preliminary results of parliamentary election of Dec 2 in Russia announced by head of Central Electoral Commission Vladimir Churov, the United Russia Party may receive 315 mandates in the new Duma.
57 mandates are expected to be received by the Communist Party, 40 by the Liberal Democratic Party, and 38 by Fair Russia. According to the CEC head, about 45 million Russian citizens voted for United Russia overall. Four mass parties will be represented in the State Duma, who enjoy support of over 5 million people each, but United Russia, for whom about 45 million voters gave their ballots, stands apart, Vladimir Churov said.
He added that parties that will be represented in Duma have received a total of 91.7% of all ballots of voters who came to polling stations. This, Churov says, is the evidence of high legitimacy of the Russian parliament. Not all countries can boast such level of representation of the people’s interests in the parliament, he said.
Russia’s CEC has been reported by process about 98% of polling stations protocols by now.
According to Churov, the voter turnout was about 63%. According to preliminary results, United Russia received 64.1%, CPRF – 11.6%, LDPR – 8,2%, FR – 7.8%, Agrarian Party – 2.3%, Yabloko (1.6%), Citizens’ Force (Grazhdanskaya Sila) – a little over 1%, and Democratic Party – 0.1%. A total of 8.3% voters gave their ballots for parties that didn’t make to the Duma. The results should not change significantly after 98% of protocols are processed, Churov pointed out. The vote final results are to be published by CEC on Dec 7 or 8.
