Crimean Tatars to hold world congress in Crimea

Chairman of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People Mustafa Jemilev has addressed all organizations and associations of Crimean Tatars appealing to them to prepare and hold in 2008 a first world congress of Crimean Tatars. REGNUM correspondent reports Mejlis's press service to inform about it on March 19.

Jemilev commented on the initiative this way: “We have a goal to bring to the first world congress of Crimean Tatars representatives of Crimean Tatar organizations from all the world countries and discuss the main task – consolidation of Crimean Tatars and coverage of the main problems of the Crimean peninsular in social-political, economic, and cultural spheres.”

The Mejlis's head noted that this year, the congress will be tentative and the following congresses “are going to be better.”
