Deripaska to be in charge for construction of Western Speed Diameter in St. Petersburg

WSD Nevskiy meridian Concern (Strabag A.G., Bouygues Travaux Publics, Hochtief PPP Solutions, Egis Projects, Mostootryad #19 and Oleg Deripaska's company Basic Element) is acknowledged the winner of a competition on designing, building, financing and exploiting the West Speed Diameter highway (WSD) in Saint Petersburg. It was announced today, on June 7, during the 12th Petersburg International Economic Forum by the governor of Saint Petersburg Valentina Matviyenko, informs a REGNUM correspondent. According to the governor, the decision was accepted earler today at the city government cession.
It is worth mentioning, the concern appeared to be the only one to present a bid for implementation of the project after passing the pre-qualification selection. Overall, the first stage of competition was passed by four international consortiums: MLA Lieferasphalt GMBH (included ALPINE Mayreder Bau GMBH, FCC-Construccion S.a., Deutsche Bank AG). WSD ''Nevskiy meridian'' (Strabag A.G., Bouygues Travaux Publics, Hochtief PPP Solutions, Egis Projects, Basic Element, Mostootryad #19), Vincida Grupo de Inversiones 2006, S.L. (Obrascon Huantre Lain, S.A., OHL Concesiones S.L.), Saint Petersburg speed highway B. V. (Bechtel International Inc, Enka Holding, Intertoll Infrastructure Developments). Official conformation of competition results is planned to take place on June 10, at a cession of the Russian Federation government.
As REGNUM informed before, the West Speed Diameter (WSD) is a toll highway which will connect northlands of the city with its south, passing over the city highway network. A section of the highway will pass on overhead road in the Gulf of Finland. Its general length is a 46.4 km, including 28 km in the densely build-up city. It is planned to design 14 transport junctions on the highway. The WSD foresees construction of 15 transport junctions on different levels and unique bridge facilities with bridge clearances above a ship track 55 m and 35 mthat will be constructed for the first time in the Russian Federation. Estimated capacity of the highway will be more than 100,000 cars a day. The competition for a right to sign the Concession Treaty about designing, building, financing and exploiting the West Speed Diameter highway in Saint Petersburg was declared on November 17, 2006. Four international consortiums participated in the contest, they had been selected by the competition commission on March, 16, 2007, grounding on results of pre-selection, this included the Basic Elementaffiliates, Enka Holding (Turkey), Deutsche Bank and OHL Group (Spain).
