First residential blocks to appear on warplands in St. Petersburg in 2.5 years

Today, on June 8, in Saint Petersburg within the framework of the 12th International Economic Forum, an agreement signing ceremony took place between the Group of Companies PIK and Management Company Marine Facade with participation of the city governor, Valentina Matviyenko. As a REGNUM correspondent reports, the agreement foresees PIK buying 63.4 ha of warplands in Saint Petersburg. On the land to be acquired, the construction company intends to build about 1.3 million sq. m. of real estate, including 1.1 million sq. m. of business and Deluxe class housing. The volume of investments in the project was about $3 billion.
The acquisition of these territories by PIK opens a new stage in the city development, Valentina Matviyenko said. For the first time in the 305-year history of Saint Petersburg, the city took a step far into the sea. It is a greatleap in development of the city. We suppose that Marine Facade will become the dominant of Saint Petersburg, stressed she, naming the warplands an anchor project. She mentioned the high reputation of PIK and underlined that did not doubt in success of the realized project. You are bound to succeed, said she.
It is assumed that a competition for architectural design of residential buildings under the project will take place this autumn. First objects, according to the first vice-president of PIK Sergey Kanaev, will be completed in 2.5 years. Fulfillment of the plans will take about 10-15 years.
As REGNUM reported before, in the beginning of 2004, the authorities of Saint Petersburg decided to start implementation of a project to construct the Marine Passenger Terminal at the account of expanding the Vasilievsky Island territory. The Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation estimates the volume of the investments in the project as $1 billion, and taking into account capital investments in the real estate on the new warplands as $2 billions.
The project will be implemented under terms of private-state partnership. After the construction is completed, the harbor will go to the property of Saint Petersburg administration. This summer, the first stage of the passenger port launching complex is supposed to be opened, in September, it is planned to host the first ship. The marine passenger harbor will be able to harbor cruise and ferry ships up to 311 meters long and to 9 meters draft.
Overall, seven mooring lines will be built with the total length of the mooring wall of 2.108 meters. Within the framework of the first stage, in 2008, two mooring lines with related waterside facilities will be put into operation, and the area of the warlpands will be extended up to 155 ha. The capacity of the harbor in complete development in high season will make about 12,000 tourists a day (over 1.5 million passengers annually). The new harbor port will meet all existent international safety requirements for passengers and ships.
