Kyrgyzstan’s Central Election Commission (CEC) has published preliminary outcomes of the parliamentary elections in 2,235 constituencies (99.96% of the whole number), a REGNUM correspondent informs.
According to the CEC, Ak Zhol Party received 46.99% of the votes (1,294,992), Ata Meken – 8.29% (228,319), the Communist Party – 5.12% (141,034), the Socialist Democratic Party of Kyrgyzstan – 5.05% (139,115). The rest eight parties that ran for the parliament failed to overcome the 5-percent barrier.
Deriving from the data, as well as the fact that the Supreme Court earlier lifted the 0.5-percent regional barrier, four parties pass to the Kyrgyz parliament – Ak Zhol, Ata Meken, the Communist Party and the Socialist Democratic Party of Kyrgyzstan. The CEC intends to announce official outcomes of the elections on December 20. On December 21, the new parliament is expected to hold its first session.
