Georgian command redeploys troops from East to Center: Russian General Staff

The situation in South Ossetia remains tense, Deputy Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation Anatoly Nogovitsyn said at a press conference Aug 27, REGNUM corespondent reports. Particularly, Georgian command is redeploying troops from eastern regions to the central ones.

Nogovitsyn told journalists about a successful resolution of an incident near Mosabruni settlement. There, the general accounted, Russian peacekeepers observed movement of four groups of Georgian policemen. Nogovitsyn suggested that their presence was supposed to prepare advent of a Georgian administration to the village. Although the Mosabruni village is not in the jurisdiction of Russian peacekeepers, it is located in the territory of South Ossetia, the General Staff deputy head said. That is why an air assault company was deployed there. The military established an additional observer post in the village, Nogovitsyn informed.
