Georgia’s united opposition plans to have a large-scale protest action in the territory of Tbilisi racecourse on the day of inauguration of the newly elected Georgian president, Mikhail Saakashvili. The announcement was made by opposition leaders at a news conference on January 17, a REGNUM correspondent reports.

The opposition leaders reiterated they recognize neither the official outcomes of the January 5 presidential election nor the legitimacy of Mikhail Saakashvili, who, according to the official outcomes, won, and claim for a run-off.

Initially, the opposition planned to stage a large-scale protest action scheduled to start on January 19 and to end on January 21 in the center of Tbilisi, however, the city administration gave no permission for it saying that on January 20 events timed to the inauguration of the new president will be held in the territory.
