Chechen separatist leader Abdul-Khalim Saidulayev was killed in a police raid on Saturday, the pro-Moscow government of Russia’s southern province reported. The report of his death came only a day after a senior pro-Moscow official vowed vengeance against another influential Chechen warlord Shamil Basayev.
