    Russian Airline Wins Suit Against Germany Over 2002 Jet Collision
    A Russian airline company has won a suit against Germany, filed last year in Constance. The Bashkir Airline claimed that the German government was to blame for its failure to ensure flight safety, which led to a midair collision of BAL’s passenger plane and a DHL Boeing in July of 2002. 71 people were killed in the crash.

    European Court Orders Russia to Compensate Chechen Mother for Loss of Son
    In a landmark ruling on Thursday, the European Court of Human Rights found Russia had violated the “right to life” of a young Chechen who disappeared after a Russian general ordered him shot. The court ruled the victim’s mother, Fatima Bazorkina, had suffered inhumane treatment and ordered Moscow to pay her 35,000 euros in compensation.

    Russian Rocket With 18 Satellites Crashes After Launch
    A Russian Dnepr rocket carrying 18 satellites crashed shortly after take-off late on Wednesday from the Kazakh launch pad of Baikonur. The first and second stages of the rocket failed to separate correctly after 86 seconds of flight, causing the Dnepr — a converted intercontinental missile — to crash.
