Official Kiev concerned about stability in Georgia
Ukraine calls upon all political forces in Georgia to refrain from any actions that can undermine political stability and peace in the country or instigate mistrust and clashes in society, says a statement of the spokesman for the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry on the early presidential election in Georgia held on January 5.
“As preliminary conclusions of the ODIHR/OSCE mission, the early presidential election was in essence consistent with most Georgia’s commitments to the OSCE. Proper conditions were established for the Georgian people to express their will. The election was conducted in a positive competitive environment with participation of a significant number of international and national observers,” the comment says. The Ukrainian side expresses hope that the outcomes, whatever they are, will be recognized by all actors in the election process. According to the statement, it will show that the civil society in Georgia is mature, political forces are responsible to their people and will allow providing implementation of Georgia’s development goals for the sake of political stability and economic well-being.
The Georgian opposition does not share the stand of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry saying the outcomes were falsified.
