Today, on January 18, co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group for Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement Matthew Bryza, Bernard Fassier and Yuri Merzlyakov returned back from Yerevan (Armenia) to Baku (Azerbaijan). Today, they are expected to have meetings with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Foreign Minister Elmar Mammedyarov, a REGNUM correspondent informs.
While speaking at Baku Airport, Matthew Bryza told reporters that they had had a constructive discussion in Yerevan. According to him, it was difficult to state any significant shift in the Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement before the presidential election in Armenia. In his turn, Yuri Merzlyakov said that positions of Azerbaijan and Armenia do not coincide in several aspects. That is why we have not proposed yet to have a meeting of the both countries’ foreign ministers. Speaking on participation of the Nagorno Karabakh Azerbaijani community in the talks, Merzlyakov said that it is Azerbaijan’s internal affair, and if the official Baku would like it, the Azerbaijani community can take part.
