Putin recommends earlier parliament session
Dec 3, President of Russia Vladimir Putin has called results of Duma election in Russia a sign of trust. He said he was sure that people of Russia will never allow the country’s sliding down a destructive path. “I want to thank citizens of the Russian Federation, all the voters, for the great activity. My special words of gratitude are to those who voted for the United Russia Party. I have been put first in the party list, so this is naturally a sign of trust,” the president said. “For United Russia this is, undoubtedly, not only an evaluation of what has been done, but first of all, the voters’ expectation that United Russia will work constructively on solving social problems of citizens,” Kremlin’s press service informs.
Putin has also stressed that new State Duma will be more legitimate than the previous one. The new Duma will start sessions earlier than it was planned before, Putin announced. “I think that it would be right not to wait for the set time period of 30 days until the first session of the new State Duma,” he said at the meeting with the government members in Kremlin. Pointing to the law that gives President a right to convene Duma before the set term, Putin informed that he had instructed administration and government to prepare a parliament session.
