Putin said the Russian department of INTERPOL was successfully developing, stressing the meaningful participation of INTERPOL in the fight against terrorism.
“We are impressed by political indifference of INTERPOL,” Putin said. He also marked that he was pleased to listen to the quotation from the novel of Leo Tolstoy Anna Karenina during a speech of one of his foreign counterparts. According to Putin, the reference to the Fyodor Dostoevsky novel Crime and Punishment would reasonably sound at the session of the INTERPOL Assembly, adding that this was not only “a manual for proper work” but also a good example of “a subtle struggle between an investigator and a criminal.”
Putin congratulated Vatican on joining INTERPOL and wished luck to all members of this organization.
