Retail trade turnover increased by 21.7% in Kirov region in January 2008

The retail trade turnover in Kirov region totaled 4970.5 million rubles in January 2008 increasing by 21.7% compared to the same period last year in comparable prices, the regional department of the Russian Statistics Agency informed REGNUM.
The population of the region spent more than 1 338.3 million rubles for purchasing goods comparing to the same period last year.
Trade companies constituted 94.5% of the retail trade turnover (including small businesses – 29.5%, self-employed traders selling goods outside the market 21.9%), the share of markets was 5.5%.
The proportion of foodstuffs in the total retail trade turnover was 48.7%, of nonfoods 51.3%.
The total cost of foodstuffs sold in January 2008 was 2 418.5 million rubles, which is by 10.9% more than the level of the same period last year in comparable prices.
Nonfoods were sold for 2 552 million rubles, which is by 32.7% more than the level of the same period last year.
By February 1, 2008, retailers had stock in trade worth 2047.7 million rubles. The retailers had reserves of trade stock for 31 days ahead.
Caterers sold production worth 386.9 million rubles, which is by 2.7% more than the level of the same period last year in comparable prices.
