Ministry of foreign affairs and European integration of Moldova asked ambassador of Romania in Chisinau Filip Teodorescu to present official explanations regarding a number of recent statements of the Romanian diplomat, REGNUM reports Moldovan foreign ministry’s press service to inform Dec 4 2007.
Chisinau, in particular, is perplexed with the statement of Mr. Teodorescu of Nov 28 2007 in which he blamed Moldovan authorities of delaying the process of preparation and signing an agreement between Romania and Moldova on partnership and cooperation, an agreement on the border between the two countries and border cooperation. Besides, the Romanian diplomat claimed that the Paris Peace Treaty of 1947 settling border between the USSR and Romania has to be revised, de facto questioning legitimacy of present borders between Moldova and Romania. Teodorescu believes that the peace Paris Peace Treaty of 1947 determining borders of Romania is a historical falsification and was signed because Romania was a defeated and occupied country.
The Moldovan diplomatic ministry press office informs in its statement that Filip Teodorescu was invited to the Moldovan foreign ministry to discuss these assertions. The Moldovan foreign ministry, on its part, finds it necessary to point to the fact that, according to the Vienna Convention on the Law of Treaties of 1969 and the UN convention on the unlimited in time inviolability of borders between countries settled by international agreements, the Romanian side does not have a right to revise the provisions of the 1947 Paris Peace Treaty.
