$179.50 for 1,000 cubic meters – is amount to be paid by Ukraine for imported natural gas in 2008.

On Dec 4, Gazprom settled terms of natural gas supplies to Ukraine. Talks between the Russian natural gas company CEO Alexei Miller and minister of fuel and energy of Ukraine Yuri Boyko were held in Moscow.

The reason of raising the gas price tag for Ukraine is the inflated procurement prices for gas exported from Central Asia. After Turkmenistan’s gas producers informed of their intention to raise the rate, representatives of Uzbekneftegaz followed suit.

Currently, the RosUkrEnergo Company is an exclusive imported natural gas supplier to Ukraine. It mainly supplies Turkmenistan’s gas to the country after purchasing it at Gazprom.

The price of Russian natural gas exported to Ukraine is now $130 per 1,000 cubic meters.
