Russia and US continuing BMD talks

Moscow and Washington are continuing bilateral consultations on the Ballistic Missile Defense in Europe.

On March 25, Russian diplomats have left for Washington for this purpose. The planned meeting will continue negotiations in the “2+2” format held in Moscow on March 18, 2008, RSN informed.

Preceding talks failed to bring together the sides' positions. Washington has not given up the idea of building BMD elements in Czech Republic and Poland. It only made insignificant concessions to Moscow, particularly, the one of inspection of the future facilities. Russia's FM has been reported to present response to these suggestions.
