The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has not prepared any black lists for Ukrainian politicians who would be banned from visiting Russia, a source at the Information and Press Department of the ministry told REGNUM on May 23.
The source drew attention to the fact that a statement made by the ministry earlier regarding statements of Ukraine’s first deputy justice minister Yevgeny Korniychuk had not said directly about banning him from entering the Russian territory, but “such a suggestion was expressed.” “Russia’s principal position remains the same: both in the relations with Ukraine and other CIS countries we do not need any black lists and introduction of such practice is not welcome,” the Russian foreign ministry believes. “There is no any list as such and we hope that we shall not have to make it. Evidently, no certain individuals that are allegedly in the list are on the agenda,” the source said.
To remind, on May 16, Yevgeny Korniychuk in an interview to a Ukrainian newspaper noted commenting on renewal by Ukraine of the practice of making black lists: “After recent statements of the former Russian president Putin that “Ukraine is not a state” I think it would be logic to pose the question regarding this statesman.”
In this connection, on May 22, the Information and Press Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry made a statement saying: “Taking into account what Yevgeny Korniychuk said in his public statement, we suppose that he has no plans of visiting the Russian Federation.”
