Tbilisi: No Georgian aircraft fly over Abkhazia
Ministry of defense of Georgia has refuted information about Georgian aircraft' flights over the territory of Abkhazia. “Our aircraft have performed no flights towards territories controlled by the Abkhazian side,” Georgian officials stated. At the same time, Kavkaz Press agency cited Georgian state minister for re-integration Temuri Yakobashvili to confirm the fact of explosion in the Gali region. “An observers' group dispatched to the incident cite will establish the details of what happened. The results are supposed to be known by the end of the day,” Temuri Yakobashvili said on April 20. In the morning of April 20, 2008, air defense force of Abkhazia shot down a Georgian reconnaissanse plane over the Gagida settlement of the Gali region. The Abkhazian side described the incident as a repeated violation of the republic's airspace.
