Timoshenko fails to become new Ukrainian prime ministerToday, on October 11, the Ukrainian Supreme Rada failed to elect leader of BYT Yulia Timoshenko as a new prime minister. Only 225 members of the Orange coalition gave their votes to her, while 226 are needed, a REGNUM correspondent informs. Earlier, Yulia Timoshenko was sure her candidacy and the new Cabinet of Ministers would be backed by all 227 members of the democratic coalition of BYT and Our Ukraine – People’s Defense Bloc. Yulia Timoshenko took the prime minister’s post in February 2005. She was appointed by President Viktor Yushchenko. Timoshenko’s premiership was marked by a series of re-privatization actions, sugar and petrol crises and a corruption scandal that resulted in dismissing Timoshenko in September 2005. 14:51 12/11/2007 COMMENT ON THIS NEWS !
