Ukrainian authorities are dragging the country into NATO at a time when the North Atlantic Treaty Organization is falling apart. MP from the Party of Regions Inna Bogoslovskaya has voiced this opinion on March 13 at a conference “The Neutral Status as a Paradigm of Ukraine's Foreign Policy,” REGNUM correspondent in Kiev has reported.

“From the moment the EU introduced its currency Euro that pushed aside the US dollar, the European Union has become a direct competitor of the USA. Today, the conflict of interests between the States and the EU is obvious. And markets and money are the main interest. We can observe a deep crisis inside NATO today. And some people are trying to drag Ukraine into the Alliance, but they don't understand that NATO is a look toward yesterday. For Europe has started to refuse financing NATO's military programs. Now NATO's chief donor is the United States,” Inna Bogoslovskaya argued.

MP Georgy Kriuchkov said at the conference: “Two thirds of Ukrainian population do not want to see the country in any military-political alliance. But they try to prove us that the people lack understanding. However, sociological surveys show that those are mainly grown-up and experienced people, who stand against NATO.” According to Kriuchkov, Ukraine is only capable to defend its national interests if it preserves its independent out-of-blocks status.
