Ukrainian President Victor Yushchenko dissolved the Ukrainian parliament which could not form a new majority after collapse of an “orange” alliance in September and declared early elections.

“Under the Ukrainian Constitution, I declare termination powers of the Ukrainian Parliament of the sixth convocation and call for early parliamentarian election,” the president said in a televised address to Ukrainians, which was transmitted by national channels. “The election will be held democratically and legally,” he added, but an approximate day of the holding of the new election was unnamed.

Yushchenko held regular consultations provided by the Constitution with leaders of parliamentarian factions before departure for a two-day visit to Italy on October,8, in the morning.

Early autumn, the parliamentarian coalition collapsed because of insurmountable differences between President Yushchenko and Prime Minister Yulia Timoshenko. Under the Constitution early election should be held within two months in case of the dissolution of the Ukrainian parliament. Analysts believe, the new elections will not change the balance in the parliament fundamentally.
