President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko has congratulated a newly elected head of the Supreme Rada of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk. “This is an outstanding event for solving the key issue of political stability in the country,” REGNUM quotes the head of state to say at a meeting with local self-government bodies in Kiev on Dec 5.

The president has called election of Yatsenyuk an extraordinarily important step and extraordinarily great success. “I would like to congratulate all the Ukrainian people, all members of the parliament, because to have a working parliament is a focus of all our efforts. I am convinced that Arseniy Yatsenyuk will be the talented head of parliament who with all his heart feels that he is a speaker of Ukrainian parliament, and not just of a majority or some political forces. From now on, the parliament has to become a stabile political body in the country – I am speaking of returning respect and dignity to the Supreme Rada,” Yushchenko said.
